Banner Celebrates World Read Aloud Day
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
On Wednesday, February 5, The Banner School students celebrated World Read Aloud Day with two very special readers. Our own Head of School Mrs. Dobay read The Wonky Donkey aloud to the school during our morning All-School Assembly. It was a special treat enjoyed by all.
On Wednesday afternoon, kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and fifth grades had the opportunity to connect with children’s author Larissa Thuele via Skype. She read a story to the students and answered questions about all things author and book-related. We even found out that her favorite uniform for writing is sweatpants!
#WorldReadAloudDay is a global movement that highlights the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories. Founded by the nonprofit LitWorld and sponsored by Scholastic, the event is celebrated by millions of people in more than 100 countries. Here at The Banner School, reading is such an important part of our primary language arts curriculum and what a wonderful day of opportunities this was for our students.
