Annual Giving Fund

The Banner School depends on gifts to the Annual Giving Fund to enrich school programs and provide the standard of excellence for students that Banner has come to represent. Since tuition and fees cover only 90% of the operating budget, the remaining cost of approximately $1000 per student must be covered through gifts to the Annual Giving Fund and other fundraising efforts. Your gift to the Annual Fund provides the critical difference in balancing the current year’s budget and benefits every student.

The funds raised may be used to support teacher salaries, purchase computer hardware and software, provide academic enrichment materials or underwrite fine arts or athletic programs.

The Annual Giving Campaign begins in the fall when the School asks each member of the Banner community to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Annual Giving Fund. You may designate your gift to be applied to the School’s greatest need or you may select a specific area of the operating budget – Academics, Fine Arts, or Athletics or you may specify another program of your choosing. Pledges to the Annual Giving Fund may be paid at anytime during the school year with cash, check or credit card - either through a one-time payment or on a schedule of your convenience. The Campaign closes on June 30, 2011, the end of the School's fiscal year. We encourage gifts to be made as early as possible so that we can report the participation rate to businesses as we ask them for their support for our School.

The Banner School is grateful for all gifts and lists each contribution to the Annual Giving Fund in the School’s Annual Report on Giving which is published online. To further recognize the generosity of our donors, the following Gift Clubs have been established:

  • 1982 Club - Gifts of $5,000 or more
  • Founder’s Club - Gifts of $2,500 to $4,999    
  • Benefactors Club - Gifts of $1,000 to $2,499 
  • Green& Gold Club - Gifts of $500 to $999  
  • Head of School's Club - Gifts of $250 to $499
  • Century Club - Gifts of $100 to $249
  • Friends of Banner - Gifts to $99

Matching Gifts

Many businesses and employers will match your gift to an independent school. Please contact your employer to obtain more information and their matching gift form.

Gifts made through the United Way or the Combined Federal Campaign

The Banner School is listed as a charitable organization with the United Way, the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area(ID # 48008), the Combined Federal Campaign of Central Maryland (ID# 48008)and the Combined Federal Campaign of Western Maryland (ID# 48008). Should you make a donation through United Way or the Combined Federal Campaign, please allow the release of your name to the School so that we may ensure that the funds are received and that your gift is acknowledged.

        The goal for the 2010-2011 Annual Giving Campaign is $70,000.
